The East Coast's Largest Indonesian Festival
Our recap on NEIF (New England Indonesian Festival) 2023, the East Coast’s largest Indonesian festival with 5000+ participants.
21 June 2024
For the tenth year running, Permias Massachusetts presents the New England Wonderful Indonesian Festival. After working tirelessly every year to bring this festival, NEIFs mission is about celebrating Indonesias culture. Permias will share the “Indonesian Experience” with the city of Boston. Over the years this festival has been an incredible and rewarding journey for its stakeholders.
Needless to say this annual event has only been made possible through the tremendous support and selfless generosity of sponsors and collaborators. The New England Indonesian Festival (NEIF) is an event annually held in Boston that promotes Indonesian culture to the New England community, which includes the state of Massachusetts and its neighbouring states.

Since its launch in 2013, NEIF has been held in Copley Square, a large open venue at the heart of Boston, and has attracted over 5,000 attendees annually. The festival is coordinated by the internal committee of Permias Massachusetts.
New England Wonderful Indonesian Festival had a change of venue this year, from the original location in Copley Square to Boston Common. This upgrade of location allows more attendants with the increase of venue space, and foot traffic.
NEIF welcomes Indonesian food vendors from across the United States, offering a variety of freshly made Indonesian treats. In the past, dishes like chicken satay, Indonesian fried rice, Rendang (beef curry), Es cendol, and the renowned Durian fruit have been served. We aim to foster connections and appreciation through this delicious aspect of Indonesian culture.
Visitors walked through the booths, interacting with traditional arts and crafts workshops (Batik), fashion & textile bazaars, traditional game booths, travel and tourism agencies, photo booths, nonprofit organizations that work to preserve Indonesia’s ecosystem and cultural heritage, and many more.
Permias Massachusetts is an Indonesian student organization that strives to forge and strengthen bonds between Indonesians residing in New England, which one of its missions is to proudly share the rich culture of Indonesia to fellow residents of Massachusetts.
