About Us
Permias (Persatuan Mahasiswa Indonesia Amerika Serikat) was founded in 1961 in Washington D.C.
Permias Massachusetts is a chapter of Permias Nasional and is a non-profit organization managed by passionate Indonesian students in the state of Massachusetts. Our primary objective is to establish a warm and welcoming community for Indonesian students in the Greater Boston Area, while celebrating and promoting our shared love for our homeland, Indonesia.
The PERMIAS Community is here to support you in achieving your professional goals, while providing an inclusive community of Indonesian students and alumni across the United States.
Our Events & Activities
Through our diverse events and activities, we strive to nurture creativity, advance education, showcase Indonesian culture, and build lasting relationships within our community.
The New England Indonesian Festival (NEIF) is an event held annually in Boston that promotes Indonesian culture to the New England community, which includes Massachusetts and its neighboring states.
NEIF was the first and is the biggest Indonesian cultural festival ever held in the East Coast area, with more than 5,000+ audience members annually, hundreds of performers, and countless food and entertainment booths.
Named after Boston’s nickname since the 18th century, Beantown is PERMIAS’ yearly launch into the academic year with hundreds in attendance.
This multi-day event, held in a mix of indoor and outdoor locations, allow our members gather and soak up the fall season. We play traditional Indonesian games, meet new friends, and take their first step into the vibrant Boston community.
Permias Cup brings together the best of Indonesian talent in Soccer, Badminton, and Basketball. Witness the dynamic energy as teams from Boston and neighbouring states compete for victory.
We hold various career fairs and networking events throughout each academic year. This includes mixers, speaker panels, information sessions, and cross collaboration events between Permias and leading companies. We have had collaborations with major institutions including OCBC Nisp, BCG, and more.
We hold skill workshops to help our members improve skills in various areas including:
- Freshman Support: Helping freshman settle into the new environment of studying abroad with coaching and mentor matching opportunities.
- Job Application: We hold events working with successful alumni and individuals to give valuable insights about applying for jobs and succeeding in the workplace.
